) The first funny Fathers Day poem is light and breezy without getting mushy. I hate mush. Even for breakfast. The photo illustration is of my dad (who is technically a grandfather in the photo). But we all know that in order to be a grandfather, in most cases, you had to be a father first! So please enjoy the photo of my dad, taken in the 1980's, with his four grandsons.

Once a Year Father’s Day Comes once a year. But you are special, This is clear. On each and every other day There is no need for Father’s Day. On all three hundred sixty-four You are the dad that I adore. So on three hundred sixty-fifth, I’m happy you’re the dad I’m with.

The next funny Fathers Day poem features all the fine qualities of a good father -- some of which don't seem so fine when you're a kid. The photo is one of my personal favorites. Taken in 1984, it is a portrait of my late father-in-law and our son, David.

When You’re a Father They say if you’re a father You’ve got eyes behind your head, And lots of fine-tuned radar When your kids are off to bed. They say when you’re a father That your arms are wide for hugging, And also wide enough to stop Your children from wild slugging. They say when you’re a father That your kids think you’re not “fair.” But when they are in trouble, Well, they know you’ll soon be there. They say when you’re a father You must mix your work with play. And when your kids grow older, They’ll say, “Happy Father’s Day.”

The next funny Fathers Day poem is in honor of the brand new dad, the one that has to deal with dirty diapers and colic. The photo is the back view of my husband and boys, back in the ancient 80s, walking in the sand not too far from Traverse City, Michigan.

Brand New Dad It’s time for happy Father’s Day And you’re a brand new dad. You have to get adjusted As it’s not a passing fad. It’s time for dirty diapers, Messy meals and noisy nights. But also gurgling giggling fun And smiley, happy sights. So, welcome now, to fatherhood. It’s yours, the good and bad. And I am downright certain That you’ll be one perfect dad!

The final funny Fathers Day poem was written in honor of a friend who said that while his boys were teenagers, he felt like his name was "Twenty Bucks," as that's what his boys said when they saw him (while holding out a hand).
The man on the photo below is Andrew Jackson. I took the picture myself.

Twenty Bucks Happy Father’s Day. You’re the tops. Your list of good traits Never stops. You’re smart. You’re strong. You’re always there To fix a bike Or change a spare. You’re good for laughs And grins and yucks (and could I please have twenty bucks?)
